Welcome to ID5

This partnership signifies the first step in regaining addressability in your digital advertising strategy whilst future-proofing for the cookieless world.

We are thrilled to have you join us as we continue to enable publishers to adopt a transparent, privacy-compliant identity solution for the ever-changing digital ecosystem. We will support you in leveraging the ID5 ID across all verticals, respecting users' privacy preferences, and keeping your first-party data safe.

Now that you have enabled our ID5 ID, you may be wondering what’s next. Below, you will find some useful items that will ensure you are getting the most out of your ID5 integration and help you to familiarize yourself with how best to leverage the ID5 ID as part of your digital advertising strategy.

Your Dashboard

ID5 offers a Publisher Console for all your dashboard needs. Within the console, you’ll find helpful metrics including the daily number of ID5 ID requests (broken out by new user vs existing user), GDPR consent status, and geo, browser, and device breakdown. To make sure you have access, inform us who from your side needs reporting and we will send over the new logins for you and your team.

Leveraging The ID5 ID

Our aim is to make sure using the ID5 ID is a simple and straightforward process for all publishers. This is why you can leverage the ID5 ID in a number of ways to suit your specific requirements.

Ways to leverage the ID5 ID include:

  1. Programmatically via the open-market
  2. Target the ID5 ID in any isolated test campaigns with direct deals or PMPs
  3. If you’re using a third-party DMP/CDP or have a proprietary DMP built in-house, we support decryption for activating on those audiences (please note that decryption comes with an additional charge).

Future-Proofing For Signal Obfuscation

To mitigate the impact that the reduction of signal availability has on addressability, publishers need to adapt and collaborate with identity partners, such as ID5. We strongly encourage our publisher partners to pass additional signals to ID5 in the pd string. By leveraging ID5’s ability to ingest additional signals, publishers can benefit from an ID that offers maximum accuracy, scale and longevity, making their addressability strategy more resilient to technical changes.

Partner Data supported by ID5 that should be added in the pd field includes:

  • Hashed Emails
  • Partner Specific User ID
  • Cross Partner User ID
  • CTV ID
  • Mobile ad IDs (IDFA and GAID)
  • User Agent String
  • IP Address

Consent and Legal Requirements

If you’re monetizing any GDPR or CCPA traffic, you need to add ID5 (GVL ID 131) to your CMP Vendor List. ID5 is compatible with all TCF compliant CMPs. ID5 won’t return an ID5 ID unless consent is collected and the user has opted in. In the event requests are missing consent or the user has rejected consent, ID5 will not return an ID5 ID.

Additionally, ID5 requires all publishers and publisher partners to display a user-friendly, easily-accessible, clear, and comprehensive privacy policy that complies with all applicable privacy laws and provides end users/visitors with a clear notice about data collection, a description of the data collected as well as the means of such collection, and a link to the ID5 opt-out.

Maximizing the value of the id5 id

To get the most value out of the ID as we move towards a cookieless world, ensure that your adtech partners are compliant with your chosen universal ID solutions (in this case, the ID5 ID) and are aware of the new connection.

Communicate with your ad tech stack partners and discuss the following topics:

  • Advise your SSPs that you’re live with ID5 and ensure that they’re picking up and passing the ID5 ID in the bid requests
  • If you have any direct connections to your DSPs, reach out to ensure they’re picking up the ID5 ID for decryption
  • Discuss potential data/audience use cases with your DMP to see if there’s an opportunity
  • If you’ve identified a partner that we’re not currently working with, please put us in contact in order to facilitate a new connection

Having these conversations with your partners helps to ensure proper absorption of the ID5 ID. Efficient absorption and distribution at the SSP level is important to ensure the ID5 ID is can be activated on downstream. To find your current absorption rate, you can reference your publisher profile page here.
