Who is Joel Marrero?
As a former DevOps engineer, now a Senior Director of Platform Engineering at ID5, I blend deep cloud and data expertise with a leadership style that is all about trust, collaboration, and solving hard problems together. Our work has kept systems humming through huge traffic surges, driven major cost savings, and built the kind of resilient infrastructure that quietly powers global products.
I started as a live audio engineer, where I learned how to keep cool under pressure. I bring that same steady hand to leading a team through complex, high-stakes challenges. Currently based in the far north of Scotland, I’m on the lookout for curious, creative engineers ready to help shape the future of privacy-first identity at internet scale.
Why is this an exciting time to join ID5?
It’s a hugely exciting time to be at ID5 as we make the shift to becoming a truly data-driven company. With our modern data platform already in place, we’re now focused on building out BI capabilities that will shape the future of how we work and grow. There is still a lot that needs to be built, which means plenty of opportunity to bring fresh ideas, solve big challenges, and make a real impact, both within the Engineering team as well as the wider business. You’ll be joining a talented, supportive team at the heart of this transformation, with lots of growth ahead as we rapidly expand what our platform and our people can do.
